13 Manicures of Halloween - Day 3
Color: Meet Me At Sunset (Essie)Retail Price: $8.00 (USD)
This shade is a dark red-orange, and when I say red-orange, I mean it! This honestly looks red sometimes (mostly in low lighting), and orange at other times, but I can firmly say it’s definitely more of an orange. The shade is only a smidge darker than Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup wrappers.
This polish has a great smooth finish, but I found the formula to be a little thin, which was kind of odd. Ordinarily, I need two coats for the darker Essie shades, but for this one, I needed three…and I still got a tiny bit of visible nail line! No idea what’s up with that.
If you’re looking for standard orange nails, this is a polish you might want to consider. If you want to jazz it up, layer on some glitter over it (I’d suggest Fantasy Makers’ Creepy Pumpkin, which I’m swatching tomorrow). But if you want to use this for nail art, stay away! The thin formula will make you feel as though you’re trying to use a sheer polish instead of something that should be opaque. Been there, done that—never again!
