Color: Ruby Red Slippers (Deborah Lippmann)Retail Price: $18.00 (USD)
This shade is inspired by Dorothy’s ruby red slippers from The Wizard of Oz. It has a black base color with small red glitter and large hexagonal glitter suspended throughout. I can certainly see how the red glitter is a nod to Dorothy’s ruby red slippers, but the black base color is a little too prevalent to totally make the connection for me. I still really like this glitter, though!
Just like Across the Universe (Deborah Lippmann), the first coat of this glitter goes on fairly streaky, and the black base color applies very sheer; however, the second coat is all you need to magically achieve bottle color! I love the formula of Deborah Lippmann glitters—especially the ones with a colored base. The nail polish always spreads evenly, and the finish is stunning and unique.
I can’t think of any dupes for this shade, but it reminds me of Lubu Heels (China Glaze), although, Ruby Red Slippers is obviously much more intense, and definitely makes more of a statement!
