Color: Stormy Weather (Deborah Lippmann)Retail Price: $16.00 (USD)
The story goes that 24 hours before his fall 2011 fashion show, Narciso Rodriguez called Deborah Lippmann for a unique granite gray nail color, and this is what she came up with! (In 24 hours! That’s amazing!) You really can’t tell in this photo, but the bottle really does look “stormy” with very subtle swirls of a darker gray occasionally peeking through.
As with all Deborah Lippmann cremes, I love the formula. In my experience, they’re always opaque in two coats, and that held true with Stormy Weather. I also like how these cremes have a little bit more of a jelly-like quality to them, so they dry with a really nice shine. I always recommend finishing a manicure with a top coat, but this nail polish dries so glossy, you could almost go without!
Grays are always in, and are a fun twist on neutrals. If you’re looking for something versatile and unique to all your other grays, this might be a bottle you want to pick up.
Looking for a dupe? Concrete Catwalk (China Glaze) comes incredibly close, although it doesn’t really have as much depth in color, and the formula is thicker with a flatter finish. I like both, but I prefer Stormy Weather for its formula.
