Color: Splash of Grenadine (Essie)
Retail Price: $8.00 (USD)
This shade is from Essie’s summer 2010 Resort collection. It is a pink-toned purple with a creme finish. Even though it’s from a summer collection, I think it’s easily a spring shade as well. I like that the nail polish doesn’t really look pink or purple, but sort of sits on the fence between both colors.
The formula for this shade was a little tricky to work with. Even though it seems fairly opaque, it actually applies very streaky. You’ll need to let each coat have a lot of time to fully dry so that you consecutive coats can build up the manicure to proper opacity. In the photo above, I am wearing three coats.
Honestly, I go back and forth between loving and hating this shade, but I think most of my negativity comes from the formula for Splash of Grenadine! Overall, I think this shade is fairly unique and versatile, and definitely bright enough to really make a statement in your spring or summer wardrobe.
