Color: Ring in the Red (China Glaze)Retail Price: $6.50 (USD)
One last holiday nail polish review before January is over! :) This shade is from China Glaze’s winter 2011 Let It Snow collection. It has small red glitter and large circular red glitter all suspended throughout a sheer red base color. Gorgeous!
The formula for this glitter is fairly interesting. It goes on sheer for the first coat, and the glitter spreads evenly. Every coat after is considerably darker. I used four coats of nail polish in the photo above, but honestly, it was opaque after three coats. I added a fourth for extra sparkle!
Since the first coat goes on sheer, this would also be a great nail polish to layer over a solid red, such as Poinsettia (China Glaze) or Winter Berry (China Glaze).
Looking for a dupe? Chancer (Butter London) is really similar, especially when you consider the finished look. The differences are that Chancer has a more opaque base color, and Ring in the Red has more variety in glitter shapes. I honestly can’t choose a favorite, though. They’re both fabulous in different ways!
