Color: Gilda (Zoya)Retail Price: $8.00 (USD)
I was reminded I had this shade in my stash because I watched Gilda (1946) last night in my film noir class. Honestly, this shade does nothing to remind me of the movie! For starters, the movie is black/white; moreover, femme fatales very rarely scream hot pink! Rita Hayworth’s depiction of Gilda honestly made me think of Jessica Rabbit, so if anything, I would’ve imagined a sultry bright red or something for this shade! Obviously, the names of the movie and this nail polish are just coincidence…but here’s a review, nonetheless. :)
This shade is from Zoya’s summer 2010 Sparkle collection. It is a hot pink with fuchsia iridescent glitter throughout. The sparkle here is so intense! It makes me think of the way the sun sparkles on a lake during the summer. Absolutely gorgeous, and so sweet and fun!
The formula for this shade (and all shades in this collection, in fact) was a little on the thin side, but I don’t think it affects application; in fact, the finish was a little jelly-like, which was nice. I needed three coats to achieve bottle color. Also, I really like that the sparkle in here comes from microglitter because the finish is so smooth. You’ll still want to top everything off with your favorite top coat, though.
I can’t think of any dupes off the top of my head (I want to say Disco Biscuit from Butter London’s spring 2012 collection, but I don’t have my bottle just yet to absolutely confirm this), but I do have to say this is a great color to bring out this season. A few of the newer collections out this season are using iridescent microglitter as well, but I find Gilda is most dazzling. This shade will obviously be great for summer (the perfect touch for a day on the beach), but a lovely pop of color throughout spring as well!
